Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is here and we feel like we’ve been waiting forever since Season 1 aired March 6th, 2015.

We’ve sat down completely willingly and have already binge-watched the entire 2nd season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and decided to review what we thought was utter perfection for a follow-up season! We can promise you that you will not be disappointed by Season 2, it is just as hilarious as Season 1, maybe even better!

There are spoilers ahead in this article, each episode of Season 2 has been written about and labelled so you know where you can read to if you’re only a few episodes in and you don’t want any spoilers. You have been warned!

The theme tune still has us jamming every time and it’s great to hear it once again, let’s talk Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!

Episode 9: Kimmy Meets a Drunk Lady.

Kimmy gets really into her new job as an Uber driver which was inspired by her brief attempt at being Jacqueline’s chauffer.

Titus and Kimmy fill up their tape stand and Kimmy sends Titus to buy a cassette tape tower but can’t find one in any store! He decides to make one for himself in a moment of madness and is pushed over the edge when he breaks an R. Kelly tape trying to fit it into his home-made tape stand (which is awful by the way) – they’re not really with the times in the little NYC neighbourhood which Lillian is so against changing!

Tina Fey makes an appearance as a therapist with a drinking problem called Andrea and her character is hilarious as ever, all hail Tina Fey for creating Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Andrea (Tina Fey) is picked up drunk by Kimmy’s Uber and she talks to Kimmy and decides that Kimmy lets people take advantage of her kindness. Kimmy drops Andrea off at her destination and realises after her conversation with a very drunk passenger that she is taken advantage of by Titus and Jacqueline. Kimmy decides that it is time to take a stand against people taking advantage of her which doesn’t go down too well with Titus. It later turns out that Andrea is a therapist, one of the top 25 in New York City and both Kimmy and Andrea talk about their problems together.

Kimmy agrees to start therapy with Andrea in an attempt to stop her outbreaks and control her fears after her experience of being kidnapped and living in the Bunker.

A valuable lesson can be learnt from this episode, that lesson is self-preservation. Sometimes we have things going on in our life that we want help from our friends but when is it too much? When do we stop being independent? It’s important to consider how much pressure we put on one another and realise that sometimes we can’t rely on other people and that we have to do things for ourselves and that can be hard to admit. Episode 9 also taught us the opposite, that sometimes we can’t help our friends because it is important that we feel comfortable saying no and putting number one (YOU!) first. It’s a tough lesson to learn, so we’re glad we had Kimmy and the gang to help us along the way.

Our favourite quotes from the episode are:

“When Samuel L. Jackson asks what’s in my wallet, the answer is Ketchup packets!” – Titus.

“Happy people value their needs as much as others-es” – Kimmy.

9.1/10 star IMDB rating.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 Review 9

Overall, each and every episode in the second season considered, we’ve been taken on a journey of discovery with the cast of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. We admit, the first season was great so we were worried they wouldn’t be able to follow, but they did spectacularly. If you haven’t seen the show you really should and if you have, watch it again! The show is full of messages that every single person can relate to about love and friendship. The messages that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt share are important whether it is the message of self-acceptance or accepting others. The character development in the show has blown us away and the characters feel even realer despite the ridiculousness of the situations they can get themselves into. CelebMix absolutely recommends that you watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!
