Boise Pizza Pie Caf to close for good: 'A nightmare to try and stay afloat'

Since 2015, the Pizza Pie Café has served hundreds of customers across the Treasure Valley, but now it will be closing its doors for good.

After the start of the pandemic, Lindsay said it's been a constant battle for his restaurant.

"It's just been a major challenge just to try to survive during these last couple of years," said Roger Lindsay, owner of the Boise Pizza Pie Café.

Now, the company is struggling to hire employees.

"We get applicants. We even set up interviews, and then they would just not show up," Lindsay said.

The restaurant was once a dream for the Lindsays.

"When my daughter was going to school in Rexburg where Pizza Pie Café started, every time we went there she made us take her there, and she would say we need to have one of these in Boise," Lindsay said.

But that dream is coming to an end.

For the past month, Lindsay said there's so few employees that they can't stay open for lunch.

"Lunch is about half of our sales, and so being closed for lunch is not really something you can do long term," Lindsay said.

Now, employees will have to say their final goodbyes.

"It's just is really a good place to come and eat. I was hoping, you know once I moved on, I could come in and pop in and say hi. But just to know that I can't do that is pretty sad," said Bianca Rehn, manager at Pizza Pie Café.

The restaurants last day will be Saturday, Oct. 29 from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
